It was music’s biggest night with the finest in the industry strut their stuff at the 54th annual Grammy Awards at the Staples Center in LA. Adele, who looked AMAZING, won “Song of the Year” and of course there was an amazing tribute to the late great Whitney Houston. However, as always, it is our job to rate their looks. Many wore black to the affair, while a few opted for sparkly pops of color. Some were fab, but as always, some were fails.

Dress in All Black…like the Omen

Miss “Song of the Year” and “Album of the Year”, Adele showed off her new figure in Giorgio Armani as well as Rihanna rocking her new shaggy blonde do in a plunging deep-v neck in a black Armani gown. Yet, Gwyneth Paltrow who introduced Adele’s performance, looked smashing in a black Stella McCartney dress.

The ‘Better Luck Next Time’ Award: Katy Perry in Elie Saab

This one really shames us. Although we love the dress and we LOVE Katy Perry, she just doesn’t look right. From the blue hair to the periwinkle beaded Elie Saab couture dress, Katy looks like a peacock…really like the one she sings about. We’ll blame it on the very public divorce she’s going through.

Girls on Top: Carrie, Alicia and Taylor!

Taylor Swift, who ditched the crimped do and sparkly pastel frocks, went for a more mature look in a gold embroidered and beaded Zuhair Murad Couture gown. Not to be upstaged yet were more understated; Carrie Underwood shut it down in an amazing white sequin and tulle gown by London-based designer Gomez Garcia while Alicia Keys went for a body hugging Alexandre Vauthier LBD with padded shoulders.

The HOTMESSES:

Note to “Russian superstar” Nadeea: A bra and tutu do NOT award show outfits make. Fergie was SO CLOSE in getting a “Hot” vote, but the fact that you can see her black undergarments in her Jean Paul Gaultier Couture dress looks desperate on the 36 year old singer. Jessie J, one to wear a metallic number and Brit designers like Julien Macdonald and Mark Fast, opted for too much Julien Macdonald silver bustier dress.

The “Huh” Award: Nicki Minaj as Versace Nun

No one can be surprised by this one. Nicki Minaj dressed like a nun in custom Versace adorning the brand’s Medusa logo on her dress, accompanied with a fake pope. We get that fashion can be like someone’s religion (including ours) but she took it too literally.
